Napoli confirm Khvicha KVARATSKHELIA expectedhas been diagnosed with an adductor muscle contracture and according to Sky Sport Italia, the Georgia international won’t be available against Atalanta on Saturday.

Kvaratskhelia suffered a muscle injury during Georgia’s win over Greece earlier this week. The game was historic for Kvara and his compatriots, who qualified for the European Championship for the first time ever.

However, it brought bad news for Napoli as Kvara suffered an adductor injury during the game, as Napoli confirmed with an official statement on Thursday.

The Partenopei said Kvaratskhelia underwent medical tests after returning from international duty, which highlighted a ‘strong adductor muscle contracture in his left thigh.’

The Georgia international worked in the gym and underwent treatment today.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Kvaratskhelia wants to play against Atalanta, but Napoli doctors will predictably advise against taking any risks to avoid further damage, so the 23-year-old is expected to be ruled out of Saturday’s key Serie A match against La Dea.

The players worked on pitch two, kicking off with activation work followed by a small-sided game.

Technical and tactical drills rounded off the session. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia trained individually in the gym and on the pitch.

Kvicha Kvaratskhelia went off injured for Georgia in their successful Euro 2024 Play-Off Final, but Napoli are confident it can’t be too serious considering his dance moves afterwards.

The forward limped off clutching the top of his left thigh during extra time in the 0-0 draw with Greece.

It forced him to miss the dramatic penalty shoot-out, which secured Georgia’s first ever qualification for a major tournament.

If initially Napoli were worried by the groin injury, they were reassured by footage of Kvara in the locker room afterwards doing the traditional Georgian Kartuli dance.
