BlogUFC star Jon Jones denies threatening testing agent at his home

UFC star Jon Jones is widely considered to be the greatest mixed martial artist of all time. He has had multiple legal issues outside of competition, including several DUIs and a hit-and-run felony in 2015. He was arrested in 2021 in Las Vegas on a charge of domestic battery. The charge was dropped later that year in a plea agreement.
The Albuquerque Police Department responded to a call, after a person working for a drug testing agency was trying to obtain a drug test from UFC star Jon Jones . The UFC star Jon Jones partners with a drug testing program called Drug Free Sport International and it is in charge of the collection process. For several years, the UFC partnered with USADA; however, last year, the UFC cut ties with them and started contracting with Drug Free Sport International instead.

Sources who are not authorized to speak to the media said the drug tester noticed Jones appeared extremely intoxicated and threatened to kill the tester. Jones at one point even snagged the drug tester’s cell phone. The incident happened at the end of March, however the tester went to a location nearby Jones’s home today to report the incident. A court record search did not produce any criminal summons or charges related to this incident as of today.

The tester met with officers at another location in far northeast Albuquerque. APD is currently investigating the alleged criminal act.

UFC star Jon Jones is no stranger to the long arm of the law. He has faced a few criminal cases in New Mexico, New York where he is from and also Nevada where the UFC star most often fights.

UFC star Jon Jones is a long time UFC champion who currently fights in the heavyweight division and is the current champion. He was expected to defend his heavyweight title later this year. Jones was supposed to fight Stipe Miocic last year, but got injured during training.

We will be following this story as it develops.

A testing agent for the UFC’s anti-doping program has filed a police report in Albuquerque, New Mexico, alleging heavyweight champion Jon Jones assaulted and threatened her life during a sample collection on March 30.

Crystal Martinez, the agent for Drug Free Sport International, filed the report with Albuquerque Police on Friday. Martinez alleged to police that Jones, 36, temporarily took her phone and threatened to kill her during a sample collection at his residence at 4 p.m. The report, which was obtained by ESPN, includes an arrest summons for Jones, but there is currently no online record of him being charged criminally.

Jones commented on the allegations via social media Saturday and posted a video that appears to show two testing agents leaving his home on March 30 without incident.

“I want to address reports about me allegedly threatening a drug tester’s life and taking a phone,” Jones wrote on Instagram. “I want to clarify that there is a video showing both drug testers leaving my home after the testing session, where we exchanged a high five and a hug. Although I was frustrated with the unprofessionalism and used profanity out of frustration it ended friendly and amicably, nothing threatening at all.”

According to the report, Martinez claimed Jones was initially cooperative with the testing agents but became agitated when he was unable to immediately provide a urine sample. Martinez goes on to allege that Jones appeared intoxicated and told the agents, ‘Why you f—ing people come so early, do you know what happens to people who come to my house they end up dead.” She also alleges Jones threatened to sue them.

The officer handling the report noted he reviewed video on Martinez’s phone in which Jones appears to state, ‘Here [is] f—ing Jerome and his girlfriend in my garage,” before cutting off.

Jones is widely considered to be the greatest mixed martial artist of all time. He has had multiple legal issues outside of competition, including several DUIs and a hit-and-run felony in 2015. He was arrested in 2021 in Las Vegas on a charge of domestic battery. The charge was dropped later that year in a plea agreement.

Jones was scheduled to defend his championship against Stipe Miocic last November, but he was forced to withdraw because of injury. He does not currently have a fight scheduled.

On a historic night in MMA history, UFC 300 delivered throughout its loaded 13-fight card with big finishes, strong debuts and drama throughout the night.

Alex Pereira leaves Las Vegas with no doubt as to who is the UFC’s best light heavyweight. Zhang Weili and Yan Xiaonan made China proud with their historic moment as well with a five-round thriller in the co-main event. Plus, the BMF title fight allowed fight fans to witness one of the greatest knockouts in the history of the sport. Also, what does Kayla Harrison’s debut mean for not only her new division, but for women’s MMA as a whole? Andreas Hale, Brett Okamoto, Marc Raimondi and Jeff Wagenheim react to the biggest moments of the night.

Wagenheim: Let’s begin with a hard truth: Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill was not the first choice to headline the milestone event that was UFC 300. But because the matchmakers could not put together a star-studded blockbuster to headline, that’s what we ended up with. And guess what: The fans won.

They got a night full of championship-level fights, with 11 current or former UFC champions in action. (Titleholders past and present went 7-4.) The BMF gimmick had its greatest moment, with Max Holloway delivering one of the most legendary knockouts in MMA history. There was the much-anticipated debut of Kayla Harrison and a showcase for the sport’s top prospect, Bo Nickal. It was a thrill a minute through almost all of the 13 bouts.

Would we have gotten all that if the UFC had assembled a Conor McGregor or Jon Jones main event for 300? Not a chance.

And a tremendous night of fighting ended with a tremendous first-round knockout, one that had both scary and comical elements. The funny part was when Pereira absorbed a shot to the groin (not funny to him, I’m sure), and as Herb Dean stepped in to pause the action, Pereira pushed the referee aside so he could deliver some punishment back. He then stepped forward and landed a short left hook that had Hill knocked out before he even hit the canvas, giving Pereira the first defense of the light heavyweight title he won in November. The end of the fight displayed the scary power of a man competing at a weight class 20 pounds heavier than the division he called home before last summer.

It was Pereira’s eighth UFC fight, and he has been a champ in two divisions — light heavy and middleweight. He came to MMA after being a world champion in kickboxing. And he might not be done seeking out bigger challenges. In his interview after the fight, Pereira spoke of wanting to take a heavyweight fight. Would his power follow him there? It sure has so far.
