The third Triton-class ship’s name and theme have been revealed by Disney Cruise Line, which is continuing its rapid expansion. The ship, which will be named the Disney Destiny, is expected to be delivered in 2025 and will have a superhero and villain motif.
The Disney Wish, the first Triton class ship, was launched in 2022, and the Disney Treasure, the second, is scheduled to launch in December 2024. Disney’s dedication to its cruise line is demonstrated by the new ship. Additionally, the cruise company purchased and is currently refurbishing a ship that was only partially constructed. It will be homeported in Singapore and be named the Disney Adventure. The Adventure was purchased by Disney for an estimated $44 million following Genting Cruise Lines’ bankruptcy.
About The Disney Destiny
Disney Destiny’s design concept will carry on the company’s storytelling heritage by incorporating elements from popular media, theme park attractions, and characters. “The dynamic duality of every great Disney story, where opposing forces of light and dark drive characters to rise to their purpose, served as inspiration for the Disney Cruise Line and Walt Disney Imagineering teams,” a press release stated.
Cruise passengers on board the ship will have access to areas, activities, and entertainment centered around popular narratives such as Hercules, The Lion King, and One Hundred and One Dalmatians.
According to a news statement from Sharon Siskie, executive vice president and general manager of Disney Cruise Line, “The Disney Destiny will celebrate our most legendary Disney stories and characters, bringing them to life in new and exciting ways exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests.” “The Disney Destiny will further strengthen our position as a leader in family cruising as we continue to expand our fleet and offer even more opportunities for families to experience Disney magic and world-class service at sea.”
Home ports, itineraries, prices, and activities while on board are still unknown. There will be many of areas throughout the ship for adults to unwind and areas designated for children to play, just like on the Disney Wish and Disney Treasure. During a voyage, passengers will also alternate between the three main dining halls.
Cruising Is Back
The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) states that starting in 2023, cruise travel will resume in full swing. Disney will benefit from this as three more ships will launch before the end of 2025. Nine percent more than in the pre-pandemic period, 85% of cruisers intend to cruise again, according to the 2023 State of the Cruise Industry CLIA survey.
Other Disney Cruise Projects
Disney Cruise Line is preparing to welcome passengers to Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, a brand-new private island resort in The Bahamas, in addition to new cruise ships. In June 2024, Disney fans will be able to visit the new island for the first time. Disney intends to contribute $250 million to $400 million into Lighthouse Point.
