Network giant Cisco (NASDAQ:CSCO) said on Monday that, in the era of generative AI, it has successfully acquired cybersecurity and observability pioneer Splunk for roughly $28 billion. According to a statement from the company, the purchase lays the groundwork for providing unmatched visibility and analytics throughout an organization’s whole digital presence.

“We are ecstatic to formally welcome Splunk to Cisco,” stated Cisco Chair and CEO Chuck Robbins.

“As one of the biggest software companies in the world, we will transform how our clients use data to connect and safeguard every facet of their business while we support and fuel the AI revolution,” he continued.

Cisco will integrate the full network’s capacity with top security and observability solutions to deliver a unified, real-time view of the entire digital landscape. Teams will be able to prevent outages, enhance network performance, and proactively protect vital infrastructure thanks to this.

According to Gary Steele, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Splunk, “our joint customers worldwide will receive tremendous value from the integration of Splunk and Cisco.”
