The forthcoming feature film deconstructs the BBC’s arrangement of the notorious royal interview. The British film revolving around the royal family member comes at a time when there is great interest about what’s happening behind palace doors with Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales. Check out the new trailer released on March 18 by Netflix UK and Ireland as part of its Next on Netflix lineup.

“Inspired by Prince Andrew’s infamous Newsnight interview comes a new film starring Gillian Anderson, Keeley Hawes, Billie Piper, and Rufus Sewell,” stated Netflix in a statement announcing the extended peek on X. Scoop debuted on April 5. Gillian Anderson, Billie Piper, and Romola Garai portray the women of Scoop, who are a member of the BBC team that secures the royal member for the historic interview.

The clip has Anderson, who plays Emily Maitlis, a Newsnight reporter, saying, “I’ve never been smuggled into a palace before.” The criteria and conditions under which the interview can occur are also disclosed to the Newsnight team.

The actor Rufus Sewell’s portrayal of Prince Andrew is also revealed in the latest teaser. He admitted to Radiotimes that he studied the interview from every aspect for hours on end. Sewell continued, “And I watched a lot of footage of him when he was younger and him at his best, you know, because one of the temptations is to avoid anything that seems to show the good lights or, you know… it’s quite a responsibility.”

Additionally, Billie Piper from Doctor Who plays Newsnight producer Sam McAlister in Scoop, who persuaded the prince to agree to the interview. The feature was prompted by her autobiography, Scoops: The Most Terrifying Interviews on the BBC, featuring Steven Seagal and Prince Andrew

Romola Garai portrays Newsnight editor Esme Wren, another important character, and Keeley Hawes plays Amanda Thirsk, the former private secretary of Prince Andrew. In the teaser, Connor Swindells of Sex Education was also visible as photographer Jae Donnelly.
