Monday night’s game against the Washington Wizards will force the Utah Jazz to play without starting guard Keyonte George for the rest of the games. George could only muster six minutes of action for the Jazz before having to leave the game because to illness.
With 55 games played for Utah, the Jazz guard has averaged 12.2 points and 4.5 assists each night, making for a very nice rookie campaign. George appeared to be trying to enter the NBA Rookie of the Year discussion a few weeks ago. In Utah’s game against the Golden State Warriors on February 15, the rookie produced an incredible effort. Along with scoring a career-high 33 points on 11 of 22 shots, George also tied the NBA record for the most threes made by a rookie in a single game by making nine of his 16 attempts from beyond the arc. Only two other rookies—Yogi Ferrell (2017) and Rodrigue Beaubois (2010)—have ever made nine triples in a single game. Oddly, both of them were Dallas Mavericks players.
Talent of Keyonte George and future prospects are much anticipated by the Jazz, and for good cause. Hopefully, his illness, of whatever kind it is, won’t be too severe or stay with him for too long.
