Kelly Clarkson honored George Strait, the King of Country music, by performing his poignant ballad “Carrying Your Love With Me.” In the 1990s, Strait released the song as the lead single from his ten-track album. Along with numerous other songs, including “Amarillo by Morning,” “Check Yes or No,” “Write This Down,” and “All My Ex’s Live in Texas,” it turned into one of the Texas-born legend’s biggest singles of his career.
“'Cause I'm carryin' your love with me/ West Virginia down to Tennesse/ I’ll be movin' with the good Lord's speed/ Carryin' your love with me/ It's my strength for holdin' on/ Every minute that I have to be gone/ I’ll have everything I'll ever need/ I’m carryin' your love with me”
During her “Kellyoke” segment on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Clarkson sang her version of the beloved country song. This was Clarkson’s most recent appearance on her show, as she is also from the Lone Star State. She also collaborated with Lainey Wilson, the current CMA Entertainer of the Year, earlier this week on a duet performance of her most recent song, “Country’s Cool Again.” In addition, Clarkson added her own unique touch to hits by numerous other artists, including Bailey Zimmerman, Jelly Roll, Jo Dee Messina, Lee Ann Womack, Keith Whitley, Kelsea Ballerini, Kacey Musgraves, and Keith Urban.
Wilson claimed that during Clarkson’s rendition of “Heart Like A Truck,” “you can feel it from the top of your head to the tips of your toes with every ounce of you.” Wilson was referring to Clarkson’s performance from the inaugural American Idol.
