Knicks’ Josh Hart Sparks Controversy – Cleveland Cavaliers’ Donovan Mitchell After Crucial Shot

SportsKnicks' Josh Hart Sparks Controversy - Cleveland Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell After Crucial Shot

Guard Josh Hart made fun of Donovan Mitchell during the Knicks’ 107-98 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday, demonstrating the team’s continued lack of regard for the Cavaliers.

There might be new owners for the Cleveland Cavaliers. The New York Knicks carried on their hegemony over the Wine and Gold on Sunday, following their five-game playoff series-opening upset of Cleveland in April.

The Cavs and the undermanned Knickerbockers defeated each other 107-98 in their final regular-season game of the year. Cleveland was suffering from yet another round of humiliation as they were playing without Donovan Mitchell because of a knee injury. The Cavaliers star was still a part of the action, just not in the way he had hoped.

Josh Hart, a player for the Knicks, mocked Mitchell by playing with his chain as he passed by after the 28-year-old nearly put the Cavaliers out of the game with a clutch three-pointer late in the fourth quarter. Expectedly, the enraged Cavaliers supporters believed Hart had denigrated Mitchell.

Hart scored 13 points in the victory, making three of his six long-range shots. In addition, he outworked Cleveland and pulled down 19 rebounds to record a double-double. Along with winning the decisive 4-1 playoff series last spring, New York has now won five of its previous six regular-season meetings with the Cavaliers, clearly demonstrating the importance of his efforts in igniting the team’s success.

The recent history between these two teams, which has largely favored New York, is better understood in light of Hart’s activities.

The teams are not favored to play each other again in the first round of the Eastern Conference standings as things currently stand. The Cavs are now ranked third at 39-21, one spot behind the Knicks as the fourth seed.
