After the All-Star break, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been plagued with injuries. On Monday, the franchise revealed that Naz Reid will be out for the duration of the team’s game against the Utah Jazz.
The talented forward was fighting for a defensive rebound when he inadvertently got into a fight with another player. As a result, he sustained a head injury.
Reid attempted to block the shot and got his feet in position, but John Collins’ flying run for a put-back dunk gained too much speed and Reid was unintentionally hit in the back of the head by Collins’ hip and arm.
He was clearly upset, as seen by the way he quickly went back to attacking while holding against his left side of the head.
Against the Utah Jazz, Naz Reid had a strong first half.
For the Wolves, Naz Reid proved essential, particularly with Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns sidelined. His ability to catch and shoot gave them size, athleticism, and floor spacing. He has established himself as one of the league’s most adaptable big players in addition to his sporadic ability to create shots.
Naz finished 17 minutes of play with 17 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block, and 58.0% shooting from the field, including 50.0% from the 3-point line on 2 of 4 shots.
The Minnesota Timberwolves’ injury problems only get worse.
Center Rudy Gobert of the Minnesota Timberwolves was ruled out of Monday night’s game against the Jazz with a sprained left rib, head coach Chris Finch announced to reporters during a pregame briefing.
Gobert’s participation for the match was first deemed dubious when he was forced to miss Saturday’s match against Utah because of an injury.
Naz, who replaced Gobert during the game on Saturday, returned to the starting lineup for the game on Monday before being forced out of the game with a head injury.
The Timberwolves also have to deal with Karl-Anthony Towns’s continued recuperation from meniscus surgery, which is keeping him out of action.
Kyle Anderson has been starting in Karl-Anthony Towns’ place while he is not available. But according to the pregame injury report, Anderson’s status for Monday’s game was in doubt because of persistent left shoulder soreness.
