Veteran Filipino actress Jaclyn Jose passed away in Quezon City, Philippines, on March 2, 2024, at the age of 59. According to ABS-CBN News, a heart attack was the reason behind her death. Her talent agency, PPL Entertainment Inc., initially announced the news on social media with the following post:
“It saddens us to inform everyone of the untimely passing of Miss Jaclyn Jose. More details will be shared as soon as they are available. The Guck and Eigenmann families are requesting for everyone to please pray for the eternal repose of Miss Jaclyn Jose…” the statement read on Facebook.
The post also urged people to give “respect and privacy” to her family to “mourn her passing and navigate these difficult times.”
The two children of Jaclyn Jose, Andi Eigenmann and Gwen Garimond Ilagan Guck, survive her. She and the late actor Mark Gil had a daughter named Andi, but the latter is her son with musician Kenneth Ilagan.
Jaclyn Jose and Kenneth Ilagan were in a relationship for six years
From the late 1990s until the early 2000s, Jaclyn Jose and musician Kenneth Ilagan reportedly dated, according to Philstar. According to GMA, she and him had a son named Gwen Garimond Ilagan Guck, who was born in 1999.
In 2007 she even said to Funfare:
“My relationship with Kenneth is my longest ever. It lasted for more than six years.”
She did, however, often accuse Ilagan of adultery.
Conan Daily claimed that Gwen, having followed in his father’s footsteps, is currently a bassist for the Filipino pop punk group Suspiria Pink.
Former lead guitarist for the Filipino rock group The Dawn was Kenneth Ilagan. According to Wikiwand, the 52-year-old has performed for several bands throughout his career, including Violent Playground, True Faith, and Xaga (formerly Rivermaya).
The former partner of Jaclyn Jose, a native of the Philippines, is a cousin of Mondo C. Castro, one of the original members of the Filipino pop and rock group The Pin-Up Girls, and is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
A September 2022 Phil News report claims that Jose had issues about her son’s father, which she shared at the time in an Instagram post that has since been removed.
She berated Kenneth Ilagan over his interview with YouTuber and Inrovoys drummer Paco Arespacochaga in October 2021, accusing him of misconduct. She went on to say that young musicians shouldn’t look up to Kenneth.
The Bolera actress responded to the interview over 11 months after it was published, saying that it was improperly conducted in the first place. Furthermore, Jaclyn Jose publicly declared, “I don’t like you!” and implied that Kenneth Ilagan might even be “deported” from the United States as a result of his behavior.
She went so far as to tell Kenneth to “stop” fighting because he would lose in the Instagram post’s comments area. She also made it clear that she did not want to shield their son from him but rather attempted to understand him.
The Ma Rosa actress went on to say that Gwen Garimond Ilagan Guck and her father’s falling out was not her fault and that the Dawn guitarist was fabricating stories about her. To protect her son’s reputation, she even threatened to give up her acting profession.
